In Loving MemoryDr. Herschel Shosteck (1937-2008) was a telecommunications economist who lived in suburban Maryland, outside of Washington, DC. His intellectual curiosity in Biblical archeological history, and his interest in all matters relating to Judaica, led to his first journey on camel-back through the foreboding Negev Desert in southern Israel in August 1995. He later returned half a dozen times, and on each trip he delved deeper into the mysteries of the Negev. This book is a travelogue of his explorations. Dr. Shosteck earned his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He lectured worldwide on topics ranging from economic forecasting to Jewish history. He was an active member of Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is survived by two children, Eron (Lisa) and Debbie Leonard (Todd), and a granddaughter, Leah.
